Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Helpful Background

Our annual conference provides a forum for sharing information about innovative research, conservation strategies, and communication practices, which explore ways to strengthen resilience against current and future challenges. Participants have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) toward The Wildlife Society's Certified Wildlife Biologist® Renewal and Professional Development Certificate Program. Based on the 2026 annual conference schedule, participants may earn up to 36 Category I CEUs toward the Certified Wildlife Biologist® Program.

CEUs are awarded as follows:

  • 1 CEU per hour of educational sessions
  • 1 CEU per 3 hours of field trips for field-based sessions

The Certified Wildlife Biologist® renewal process operates on an honor-based system. Participants are responsible for logging completed CEUs on their renewal application. While some applicants may choose to include certificates of completion or other documentation, supporting materials are not required for CEU consideration.
